Mom:
“Come down for breakfast.”
You:
“Coming, Mom.”
Mom:
“Are you ready for school?”
You:
“Yes. Mom?”
Mom:
“Yes?”
You:
“User6587819316 sent me a text telling me that a long time ago, people used something called «the vocal cords» and «a voice» to communicate. They told me that they could hear each other speak rather than have to read their texts. That they would look at each other «in the eye» rather than look at their cellphones. That people had to «walk» and «drive» to get to places (whatever that means) rather than just access those places through their websites. That it was easier to sleep because people didn’t have all that blue light from their cell phones damaging their eyes. That people were «confident» because they «talked» to each other rather than simply texting each other. User6587819316 also told me that it wasn’t outlawed to look up from your cell phone and that people «felt» these things called «love» and «emotions» and even that people weren’t under the control of their cell phones. Is all of that true?”
Mom:
“No. User6587819316 is a scammer. Don’t believe them.”
“Now log in to your class. You’re gonna be late.”
You:
“OK.”
