My Negative Shadow

You always follow me,
Everywhere I go.
You are dark and always seem to be behind me,
Unable for others to see at first glance
Acting so innocent, as if it's normal.
A day is like a whole lifetime.
A positive light shining down most times
But the darkness is to come.
We produce light and need it
But behind every shining light there is a shadow.
Darkness is the unknown,
Different wherever it lingers,
Filled with the least expected.
My darkness contains questions,
Like why did I do that?
Or what do others think?
Not like the answers will change the past,
But the darkness seems to take me over more
especially when the questions are acknowledged.
Loved ones are unconsciously part of my pitch black,
With confidence in what I can do.
Confidence only becoming weak when
My actions can't meet my last standard.
All darkness seems distant and ominous since you can't see it,
But when shone upon it changes,
To be in plain sight and positive.
Like it was never hiding in the first place.
